The newly re-imagined Sonesta ES Suites Jacksonville is one of the best Extended Stays I’ve had the pleasure of staying at. Located less than 30 minutes from the Jacksonville International Airport, this hotel is the perfect mix of luxury and “home away from home.” Actually, as I’m writing this review, I’m having flashbacks of how relaxed I felt while staying there. Oh, how I wish I could go back right now!
My favorite thing about this hotel was the spacious suites. I was blown away once I walked into my suite. The first suite option is the studio suite. You can choose from one queen bed or one king bed, or you can choose two queen beds. The maximum occupancy for this suite is four adults. This studio provides a comfortable apartment-style space that is an alternative to a typical hotel room. This set up allows you to spread out and be productive.
The second option is the two-bedroom loft suite, which is the amazing suite option that I stayed in. It’s about 564 sq. ft, and it features one king bed upstairs on the second level with a private bathroom and 2 double beds downstairs with another full bathroom. The maximum occupancy for this suite is up to six adults. It’s the largest suite option that the hotel offers, the perfect “home away from home” for families or large groups. It has plenty of space to spread out with a living room, fireplace, pull out the sofa and a fully equipped kitchen.
A few exciting renovations were happening during my stay, including the pool area, the free daily grab & go breakfast area and the barbecue grill/picnic area. All the renovations are fully complete now, and they are super fab! Take a look!
The hotel has free parking which is always a plus, but I couldn’t stay still while I was in beautiful Jacksonville. Jacksonville is the largest city in area in the continental United States. It is a rapidly growing metropolitan city in Northeast Florida, filled with miles of beaches, great restaurants, and a stunning marina area where I spent most of my time. The St. Johns Marina area is located on the south bank of the St. Johns River and has the best view of the beautiful skyline of downtown Jacksonville. The weather was amazing, perfect for a walk, a bike ride or a boat ride so I did all three and after I had lunch at River City Brewing Company, Jacksonville’s premier riverfront restaurant located on the South bank of downtown Jacksonville. My amazing Jacksonville food experience did not just end at lunch. After my perfect night, I headed back to my suite to spread out, relax and wind down. The hotel is around the corner from the restaurant, so I didn’t have far to drive. I was so exhausted after my exciting day, so I fell asleep downstairs on the comfy couch in front of the tv and cozy fireplace. In the middle of the night, I did manage to make it upstairs to the fluffy bed and fresh white sheets.

Eats
You can start each day with the generous complimentary breakfast buffet, with ample hot, cold, and healthy selections. It’s served each morning at The Dish, the newly designed dining, and social space. The hotel does not provide room service but the Shoppe is open 24 hours a day and it’s right next to the front desk. It’s super convenient if you want to grab a variety of snacks, candies, beverages, ice cream, frozen foods, essential toiletries and more. Also, in each your suite you’ll find a full list of local restaurants that offer take-out and delivery. If you need a personal recommendation, the knowledgeable staff is eager to help.
