#UsAtHoward – Advanced Movie Screening

This is my first time writing a movie review and I’m super excited that it’s for Jordan Peeles new movie, “Us”. The movie hits theaters today so I am not going to ruin it for anyone, but I definitely wanted to say BRAVO Jordan Peele!

A huge thank you to Howard University and Universal Pictures for allowing me to attend an early screening of the movie, followed by a Q&A with Jordan Peele, Lupita Nyongo and Winston Duke.

Like all HBCU’s the Howard University students came out and showed out. We all had a blast!

There is a little back story on why the screening of the film was held at Howard University. In the movie’s trailer, actor Winston Duke is seen wearing a Howard University Sweatshirt. Once the PR team at Howard saw that they reached out to Universal about setting up an advanced screening. Universal thought it was a brilliant idea, and the rest is history.

So, let’s get into the movie just a little, without giving away too much of course.

Jordan Peele wasted no time in this movie. He gave us a little bit of a back story at the beginning of the movie, but in no time we were on to the good stuff. Actors, Lupita Nyongo and Winston Duke killed this film with their acting skills. They were both amazing! This was Lupita’s first lead role and she had to play two totally different characters. Her delivery for both was spot on! It was mind-blowing to watch all of the actors in this film play conflicting versions of themselves in the same scene.

During the screening, I laughed, I screamed, I cheered and I celebrated. I went through a whole range of different emotions. At the end of the screening, the movie “Us” left the audience speechless. Jordan Peele had done it again. He had given the movie world another masterpiece!

Like many mystery/thrillers, there is a bit of a twist at the end. So, make sure you stay for the whole movie. Don’t just take my word for it, go see it today!
