Lunch at Abe Fisher was one of the fanciest meals we had during our trip to Philly. Located at 1623 Sansom St, this restaurant explores generations of traditional Jewish cooking but in America, today. This is a spot that you would want to get dressed up for, so you can fit in with the beautiful chic decor.
The restaurant is known for its cocktails, that they switch out at least four every month and don’t feature it on the menu again, but if you ask for a previous favorite, they will make it.
We got the opportunity to test out a few things off of the PrixFixe Menu. The rules of that menu are each person gets to choose three plates for $39, which is a pretty great deal. We ordered more than three things of course so that we could get a good feel for the menu.
Here is what we had to start…
Chicken Liver Mousse – house-made rye, over top of caramelized pastrami onion jam and carrots.
Roasted Sweet Potato – Boursin cheese, smoked walnuts, and long pickled hots.
Kampachi Crudo – Curried raw fish, pear, mint, strawberry goulash, and watermelon.
All three dishes were very different, but delicious and plated beautifully.
For the second course, the entrees that we chose were the Veal Schnitzel Tacos- shredded veal rolled into a sausage shape and fried. On top was radish and it was served with anchovy mayo and a health salad. We also had the Montreal Style Smoked Short Ribs on housemade rye bread served with pickles, and mustards.
We tried a lot of fancy, fun and fantastic new things during our lunch at Abe Fisher so if you’re looking to try something new; this is the place for you!
