Coffee, chicken, and donuts OH MY! I mean, what else could you ask for, right?
We got the opportunity to pop into Federal Donuts located at 1632 Sansom St, so we could find out why the line was always out the door. As soon as we took our first bites into the three-piece chicken meal with buttermilk ranch seasoning and that cinnamon brown sugar donut it comes with, we knew precisely why.
Whoever originally came up with the sweet and savory concept, is a genius! Now, we’ve had chicken and waffles before, and that combination is legendary, but this was another level of sweet and savory. You can’t just have one donut! If you are on a diet, we suggest you not to walk into this shop because you will not be able to resist yourself. Lol! just kidding, please walk in but we weren’t kidding about the not being able to just have one donut. Once that sweet smell hits you, you will be hooked.
So, of course, we didn’t just try one thing, we also took a few bites of the Fried Chicken Sandwich, made with boneless chicken breast, buttermilk ranch seasoning, American cheese, a dill pickle and spicy rooster sauce on a Martin’s Potato Roll. OH ME, OH MY!
Federal Donuts has six different locations in Philly, this location that we visited is open every day from 7 am – 7 pm and they start serving chicken at 11 am.
You would be nuts if you don’t stop by a Federal Donuts when you are in Philly. We even decided to take a box of the Fancy Donuts home with us: Chocolate Old Fashioned, S’mores, Peanut Butter Malt, Blueberry Lemonade, Key Lime Pie and Pineapple Brown Sugar.
