Hashtag, Visit Philly!

Philly is the largest city in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, and it’s notable for its rich history. We had the great opportunity to partner up with Sonesta Downtown Rittenhouse Square and Visit Philly to take a quick trip to explore the city.

Once we arrived at the hotel, we were greeted by a super friendly staff that checked us in very quickly and handed us a cute red goodie bag that Visit Philly left for us. In the goodie bag, we found some cool swag, a map of Philly and a VIP Media Pass that gave us complimentary access to a lot of Philly’s great attractions.

We had a full schedule for this trip, so we rested up a little and got ready to hit the city. We started with a late lunch at Morgans Pier, one of Philly’s best waterfront beer gardens. After our fabulous meal, we headed to Union Transfer to cover the Teyana Taylor, Jeremiah, Dani Leigh & Friends Tour. I loved the look of the inside of the venue, it was the perfect setting for the concert. Each artist that evening did a fantastic job, and we had front row access to it all. Click here for a full recap of the concert.

After the show, the night was still young, so we had to check out the Blue Cross River Rink, Philly’s outdoor roller skating rink. We wanted to end the night with some fun skating, but that’s not the only thing you can do there. There are fun carnival games, and my favorite part of all was the huge Ferris wheel that lite up the sky. It was a magical way to end an evening in the city.

The next day our schedule was filled with exploring, attractions and lots of eating at great restaurants. Thank you to all the restaurants that partnered with us and hosted us for complimentary tastings so that we could try some dishes out and make the best recommendations to our readers. Make sure to click each restaurants name in this post to read our full reviews. We started our day with an excellent breakfast at Cafe Lift, but before that, we had to take a photo under the famous LOVE art sculpture located in City Center, which was walking distance from our hotel.

After a delicious breakfast, we wanted to use our VIP pass to check out a few more attractions, and one of our favorites was Photo Pop Philly, a pop-up exhibit that’s open until September 3rd. It’s filled with interactive art; they encourage you to take tons of pictures in every room and tag the artist.

After a fun time at Photo Pop, it was time for lunch, so we headed to the Fishtown a new up and coming area to have lunch at Cheu Fishtown, a hip ramen bar that serves noodles and Asian bites. Later that evening after a much-needed nap, we got super fancy and headed to dinner at Moshulu Resturant, the world’s largest four-masted sailing ship still afloat. After hours, the boat’s deck turns into a classy nightclub, called “The Deck” so we danced the night away after a fantastic dinner.

We ended our night super late, so we decided to skip breakfast the next morning and sleep in, we also needed to leave some room for our lunch plans. We partnered up with CookNSolo Resturant Partners to review 5 of their amazing restaurants for lunch. We started at Federal Donuts the City Center location, a sweet and savory way to start our food adventure for the day. All of the other restaurants were walking distance from each other so we parked on Sansom St and walked to each. Listed below is each restaurant, click each to see what we had and read our full review.

    • Goldie: Falafel, fries & Tehina shakes
    • The Rooster: Diner-style Jewish deli
    • Dizengoff: Super vegan/ vegetarian-friendly with meat options
    • Abe Fisher: Traditional Jewish cooking in America today

We were so stuffed after lunch, so we decided to walk off all of the food so we went back to the Waterfront area to play a few rounds of mini-golf and we also really wanted to take a picture on the big red #visitphilly chair. The day did not end there; we had one more restaurant to review as a dinner option that we could recommend to our readers. We headed back to Fishtown and had a great dinner at the Fishtown Brewpub. It’s a restaurant and brewpub that serves small-batch craft beers. It was the best way to end our trip. Fantastic drinks, and food!

Thank you again to all of our partners that made this trip fantastic! If you are looking for a quick getaway, we recommend Philadelphia because there are tons of things to do! Please check out the Visit Philly website before you visit, it will give you the 411 on the whats going on in the city and help you plan your trip.
