Kuramathi & Kandolhu Islands: Euphoria In The Maldives

“You know you’re in love when you can’t fall asleep because your reality is finally better than your dreams.”― Dr. Seuss

That quote perfectly describes how I felt my very first nights on Kuramathi and Kandolhu islands in the Maldives. The Maldives has been on the top of my bucket list for a very long time. I would have never imagined that I would get the chance to cross it off,  but I did! A lot of people think the Maldives is a costly trip, or it’s too complicated to plan a trip there, but it’s not. To be honest, the only major thing is the long flight which is about 17 hours, but once you land, you’ll see that is was 100% worth it.

I got the opportunity to stay at both equally gorgeous resorts for five days each. I literally never wanted to leave. After the first day, I was legit asking around about job opportunities. I still dream about both islands every night! Press PLAY below and dream with me…

When I first arrived at both islands, I was greeted by a friendly welcome team that brought me the most refreshing fruit drinks, beautifully decorated with a flower from the island. Actually, to jump ahead a little bit but ill come right back; every evening as a part of the turndown service, a different sweet treat was left in my villa. They really spoil you!

Kandolhu has beautiful sandy beaches and gorgeous blue waters where the most colorful and lively reefs in the Maldives live. Located 70 kilometers south-west of Male’ in North Ari Atoll, Kandolhu is an idyllic Maldives resort which can be reached in 25 minutes by seaplane. This stunning resort houses 30 villas that perfectly combine natural elements of the Maldives, modern architecture and creature-comforts. This island creates an experience so memorable it stays with you forever like a sweet scent.

About thirty minutes away, set in Rasdhoo Atoll, on one of 5 islands located in this tiny archipelago is Kandolhu’s sister resort, Kuramathi. Located 56 kilometers west of Male’ International Airport, this island is over 1.8km long. Kuramathi offers a range of different size villas and fun activities, so whether you’re on a girl’s trip, a romantic getaway or you’re a part of a big family looking to enjoy some quality time together, you will enjoy this island because there is something for everyone.

Both islands have numerous dining experiences that you can choose from, like The Market and Olive on Kandolhu island, where you can have breakfast, lunch or dinner. Or, the Ingura on Kuramathi Island, a stunning restaurant where you will find so many delicious options.

I had the pleasure of staying in a few different villas throughout my trip, which I posted below. Management was also very kind enough to take me on a tour to see all of the other beautiful villa options on both islands. Check out both resorts websites so you can see all of the different villa options before you book your trip.

Many areas on both islands remain untouched so you can take leisurely strolls along deserted beaches or through virgin vegetation. This fresh vegetation is actually where fresh fruits and veggies are grown. A lot of these fruits and veggies were used in the meals that were served on the island. I will say, both islands had the freshest fruits and vegetables I have ever tasted.

I had plenty of time to experience the different amenities provided on each island but the first thing I did was get relaxing massages at the beautiful spas on each island. Each spa experience was euphoric! I know you are wondering about the sea adventures and the excursions, well yes, they have the best tours that are provided by the fantastic team at Noovilu Sports. I went on a romantic sunset cruise, and the next day I went deep-sea diving with the beautiful sea life.

I could write a book about my full breathtaking experience in the Maldives, but it still would not do it any justice. You need to get on a plane and experience it for yourself. I promise, your only regret will be that you didn’t visit Kuramathi & Kandolhu Islands in the Maldives sooner!
