Moshulu is a beautiful Philly landmark that is perfect for any occasion. Located at 401 S Columbus Blvd, Moshulu is the world’s oldest and largest boat that is still afloat. It is the only restaurant venue on a tall ship today in the world.
We were looking forward to this food review all day when we found out it was going to be on a ship, so as soon as we boarded, it was all that we expected and more. When we arrived, we were greeted by a lovely host. The manager seated us at a table right beside a large window so we could enjoy the moon bouncing off of the water as we dined.
We had the most amazing servers ever! Rob and Gary, two very knowledgeable servers were assigned to our table, and they both made our dining experience very memorable. The delicious food was just a cherry on top of all of the fun that evening.
Let’s get to the food! Our servers started us off with fresh warm bread, with honey and sea salt butter. You can never go wrong with warm bread as a starter. Next, we moved to the “Starters’ section of the menu, and we chose the Spanish Octopus- chickpea puree, black olives, feta, tahini, tomato, cucumber, radish and saffron oil. We also got the Lobster Bisque- pieces of shrimp, tomato, and tarragon. Both of the starters were so delicious the meal could have ended there, but we were just getting started.
For our entrees, I decided to stick with seafood, so I got the Atlantic Salmon that came with fingerling potatoes, leeks, fennel, pea puree, pickled onion, and lobster red curry jus. There is a science to making a great salmon dish and Moshulu has it perfected.
Our co-founder, Geron went with went with the Panko Crusted Veal Milanese with arugula, mozzarella, tomato, aged balsamic and basil pesto. He was very impressed by it as well.
Everything from the decor to the food, to the service, was perfect. We ended the night with two desserts from the restaurant week menu, Chocolate Red Velvet Cake and Lemon Cheesecake with fresh Berries. Lucky us, we picked the perfect week to visit because both desserts were incredibly delicious.
Our dinner at Moshulu is one we will never forget thanks to our servers that kept us super entertained and the kitchen that made sure each dish we ordered was plated beautifully and tasted excellent. Thank you again for having us!
